On Families gathers stories of partners, donors, children, grandparents, friends, chosen family, co-parents, and extended networks of care. These accounts reveal family not simply as something we inherit or a category we enter, but as something continually made through relationships.
Queer families have long created forms of kinship that exceed the boundaries of the nuclear family. They negotiate biological relationships alongside chosen ones, invent language for relationships without familiar names, and build networks capable of holding intimacy, responsibility, and care.
On Families asks us to move from thinking about family as a structure toward kin-making as a practice: the everyday acts through which people choose one another, care for one another, and create a sense of belonging.
