The Queer Birth Project is made to travel, gather people together, and enter into conversation with the communities that encounter it.
We work with museums, galleries, universities, archives, research centers, conferences, healthcare communities, and cultural organizations to develop exhibitions and programs around queer family-making, reproductive experience, art, research, care, and kinship.
There are many ways to bring the project into your institution or community.
EXHIBIT THE PROJECT
The Queer Birth Project is an evolving, modular body of work spanning immersive sound, neon, textiles, video, sculpture, and installation.
The project unfolds through six interconnected collections— On Bodies, On Families, On Loss, On Care, On Birth, and On Joy. These works can be presented individually, brought together in different combinations, or developed into a larger presentation of the full project.
Because the work is modular, exhibitions can respond to the architecture, audience, curatorial context, and resources of each site.
We welcome conversations about solo exhibitions, group exhibitions, touring presentations, commissions, acquisitions, and site-responsive installations.

INVITE US TO SPEAK
Artist Liss LaFleur and sociologist Katherine Sobering speak individually and together about the research, artworks, and collaborative methodologies behind The Queer Birth Project.
Programs can take the form of artist talks, research presentations, keynotes, public conversations, panels, classroom visits, workshops, or interdisciplinary dialogues.

The Queer Birth Project brings together contemporary art, sociology, gender and sexuality studies, family studies, reproductive justice, oral history, archives, and creative research.
Campus visits can be shaped around your students and programs and might include an artist or research talk, Methods Braiding workshop, classroom visit, studio critiques, panel, or interdisciplinary conversation. We especially welcome opportunities to bring students, faculty, researchers, and community partners from different fields into conversation.

Use The Queer Birth Project as a starting point for conversations about family, care, identity, reproduction, loss, joy, and belonging.
We work with museums, galleries, archives, libraries, healthcare communities, cultural organizations, and community partners to develop panels, conversations, screenings, performances, listening sessions, workshops, family programs, and gatherings responsive to the people and place hosting the project.
Whenever possible, we are interested in connecting QBP with artists, parents, researchers, practitioners, and organizations already doing this work locally.
COMMISSION + COLLABORATE
The Queer Birth Project continues to evolve through collaboration. We welcome opportunities to develop new installations, sound works, performances, public artworks, research, and site-responsive projects with museums, universities, archives, cultural organizations, and community partners.
Commissions can extend one of the project’s six collections or respond to a particular place, archive, community, or question.
