The Queer Birth Project collects and shares the experiences of LGBTQIA+ childbirth and family-building through a collaboration between transmedia artist Liss LaFleur and sociologist Katherine Sobering.
STORIES BECOME WORLDS
Organized into six thematic collections, The Queer Birth Project unfolds through immersive installations combining sound, neon, textiles, moving image, and mixed media.
At the center of each collection is a libretto—a long-form poetic work composed from participants’ narratives and transformed into an atmospheric soundscape. Together, voice and material create intimate environments for encountering the embodied experiences of queer family-making.
